Limitations of Our Online Counselling Service

We offer low cost affordable online counselling for adults in the UK.
To provide a safe, ethical and sustainable service there are some limitations to whom we are able to support. These limits exist to help us ensure that people receive the right kind of support for their current needs.

Our online counselling service is suitable for people who are:

When we may not be the right fit

There are some situations where online counselling with ACN may not be the safest or most appropriate option at this time.

This includes if you are currently experiencing:

Active (or recent) suicidal intentions
Psychosis
A severe eating disorders
A diagnosed personality disorder requiring specialist care
Ongoing extreme trauma or abuse
Psychotropic substance addictions (including alcohol)

Why these limits matter

Different kinds of distress require different kinds of support. Some experiences are best supported by specialist teams. Assessing a service designed specifically for the support you need can make a meaningful difference.

As many of our therapists are trainees on clinical placement, we are not able to offer counselling to clients with severe and complex presentations.

Crisis Support

If you are in crisis and need immediate help, you can go to your nearest Accident & Emergency unit. There are also 24/7 emergency support services you can access by phone, online or text.
